adhocParty Coming to PSP

adhocParty, the free online gaming service for the PlayStation Portable that became available in Japan last year, is set to be released in North America.

adhocParty allows PSP owners who also have a PlayStation 3 to connect to other gamers’ systems through the PlayStation Network. This then allows you to play certain PSP games such as Dissidia Final Fantasy and Metal Gear AC!D 2 with each other through your PS3. The service also supports voice-chat through the Wireless Headset and the PlayStation Eye.

The service also appears to be region-locked.

Your PSP connects to the PS3 via Wi-Fi, allowing you to chat online with fellow gamers in North America before jumping into competition from the comforts of each of your respective living rooms.

As this is the North American announcement, it clearly states that it will allow you to “chat online with fellow gamers in North America”, implying that it will not be able to access other regions, although this may change in the future.
