5 tips for playing God of War

At long last, the much awaited God of War for the PlayStation 4 is finally here. With the game offering new things to the table, there are a lot of things players should know and we are here to give you five tips for playing God of War.

Here are our five tips:

1. Explore the area well

The world of Norse mythology is so vast that if you take time to explore the area, the characters, including Mimir will tell you the tale that you probably don’t know. With so many backstory to find out, I highly recommend you search every corner of the map and see what Atreus, Mimir, or even Kratos has to say. Who knows, you might find more than the lore itself like hidden runic attacks, hack silvers, and more.

2. Dodge and Parry Enemy Attacks

One of the new things about the new God of War is the combat. Compared to its predecessor, it has completely new battle mechanics where this time, instead of button mashing your controller for Kratos to attack, you now have to dodge and parry. Don’t just come running to your enemy and attack – learn how to take your time and attack at the right time. If you happen to successfully parry an attack, you get to knock them down and this gives you an opening to unleash a devastating attack.

3. Don’t forget Atreus in battle

When fighting off enemies, don’t forget that you have Atreus as your support. Depending on the type of arrows that you have, you can stun enemies or deal massive damage. Personally, I love using the Light Arrows as it raises the stun meter of the enemy, allowing Kratos to finish enemies with ease.

4. Equip your Armors and Gears wisely

Another big change about the new God of War is that Kratos and Atreus can now equip armor and different gears. Using the Hacksilvers that you get throughout the game, you are given an opportunity to buy one from the shops. At early parts of the game, always get yourself the most upgraded one but when you are in the middle and nearing the end, take the time to explore as you will be able to find rare equipment, near to legendary quality, that will be very useful if you are into fighting extra bosses that are way more powerful.

5. Spend your XP right

For every enemy that you take down and quests that you complete, Kratos will earn experience points. If you are having trouble on when to use them, I suggest to upgrade Atreus’ arrows or upgrade the runic attacks for Kratos.
