Nintendo Has Now Sold Over 10 Million Nintendo Switch Units Worldwide

In less than one year since it came out in March 2017, the Nintendo Switch has now sold over 10 million units worldwide. It is on track to easily surpass the lifetime sales of the Wii U console very soon!

Nintendo announced that it reached the milestone just nine months since the Switch went on sale worldwide. The number could have been higher if supply was able to meet demand. Nintendo had to make even more units than expected thanks to very high demand in Japan and the USA.

Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aimé commented: “As you can see in people’s living rooms, on a plane or riding the subway, fans all over the world can enjoy playing Nintendo Switch wherever they go. The response from fans has been great, and we’re doing our very best to satisfy demand during the holiday shopping season.

The Wii U only sold 13.56 million consoles in its entire lifetime. The Switch could have the same amount of success as the original Wii if these numbers can hold in the near future.
