When Nintendo announced the New Nintendo 3DS line, many people expressed concerns about the name. Even conceptually it sounds confusing, since it doesn’t sound like a new product, but at the same time it doesn’t sound like an old product either. To help people figure out which games they can and can’t play on their system, Nintendo has decided to change the box art for titles exclusive to the New Nintendo 3DS or at last Xenoblade Chronicles 3D.
As you can see above, the new box art has a number of differences when compared to other 3DS titles. These include moving the white bar from the right side to the top, replacing the Nintendo 3DS logo with the New Nintendo 3DS logo, adding an only for icon and in Europe it comes in a black case with the white bar being replaced with a black one. No word on whether or not these elements will be added to the North American box art, but it’s nice to see Nintendo is trying to differentiate the products to prevent more confusion from consumers.
