Rockstar warns against installing Xbox 360 Grand Theft Auto 5 play disc

Grand Theft Auto 5

Grand Theft Auto 5 is coming out tomorrow and Rockstar Games has now put out a warning for gamers prior to its release. The studio says that gamers who will be purchasing the Xbox 360 version should not be installing the play disc to the system’s hard drive according to a tweet from Rockstar Support. The tweet said “For optimal performance, we recommend not installing that disc.”

Grand Theft Auto 5 for Xbox 360 will be coming with two discs, the first of which is a mandatory install of 7.7 GB of content. After doing that, the second disc is the one that you will be putting in your console to play the game. However, you do technically have the option to install that disc to the hard drive as well, another 7.8 GB of data, but Rockstar Games is saying that this is not a good idea at all. Rockstar Games warns that installing the play disc “impacts the game’s ability to stream texture data, resulting in regular pop-in of in-game objects and textures.”

The game isn’t going to be available for digital download on the Xbox 360, but will be available on Playstation 3. Grand Theft Auto 5 will be available tomorrow, September 16 for Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. Digital Foundry has made a video showing the difference between playing the game with the disc installed and without. Check out the video below:
