Sony Closes Down Zipper Interactive

This week has been quite the disaster for some gaming companies it seems. We see that THQ laid off 118 employees from both Virgil and Relic games and now Sony has shut down Zipper Interactive. Jim Reilly reported via Twitter that Sony has confirmed that it closed down the developer. We all heard the rumors circulating but I personally never really saw this coming.

Zipper Interactive is best known for their work on games such as MAG, SOCOM and the recent Vita title Unit 13. I guess we won’t be seeing a sequel to MAG unless Sony can find a new developer that is willing to make the game. Such a shame that we must see a big name in the industry go.

  1. It might be a shame, but they have only themselves to blame. At least the people that were put in the decision making positions. SOCOM 4 was terrible and they spit in their fans faces. You reap what you sow. Its just sad that the lower level guys just trying to do their job also have to suffer because of a few idiots.
