PlayStation Vita Did Poorly On its Second Week in Japan

This is not good! Not good at all as the PlayStation Vita did very poorly on its second week in Japan.

According to Media Create, the PlayStation Vita only sold a total of 72,479 units on its second week, compared to the 482,200 for the Nintendo 3DS, and 101,121 for the PSP. What could Sony have done wrong for Japanese people not to buy the Vita? Could it be the price or the software line up isn’t appealing enough for gamers out there?

As for the software, none of the Vita launch title made it to top 20. Here’s the full hardware figures:

1. 3DS: 482,200 (367,691)
2. Wii: 91,176 (60,916)
3. PSP: 101,121 (64,468)
4. PS3: 75,943 (65,119)
5. PSV: 72,479 (324,859)
6. DSi LL: 8,470 (5,600)
7. DSi: 5,894 (3,523)
8. X360: 4,245 (3,584)
9. PS2: 1,582 (1,400)
10. DS Lite: 32 (32)

  1. Too many smartphones, not enough pocket space. Why would I want to play something like uncharted on a tiny screen? I’d rather play angry birds!

This thing will be extinct by summer! Anybody want a virtual boy?
