Weather Effects to be added in Minecraft beta 1.5

Markus Persson, aka Notch the creator of Minecraft, has today announced that weather effects will be part of the next update.

Notch revealed this via twitter when he tweeted “Adding rain and snow to 1.5.” Not much is currently known but Notch went on to say “Ice and snow will regrow, farms will autowater”.

Currently there is also a rumour that puddles may appear although nothing on the topic has been confirmed. Do you think weather will be a good addition to Minecraft? Comment below.

  1. I personally don’t know if weather will be a good idea. Snow regrowth might be a good thing, but what if someone hated the sight of snow (I don’t, but I know a couple people that do)? Would the puddles be source blocks? I don’t want source blocks taking out ma torches, ya know? I guess the only solution is either torches on trees or torches on pillars, if source blocks appear.

  2. Yes. I say that weather would be a plus, but it would be more interesting it if came from the clouds in biome specific areas, which would make it more interesting, but a lot harder to code, I imagine.
