Okay, it’s official now. Square Enix has confirmed that Final Fantasy XIII will be spread across three discs for the Xbox 360. But the official word was not the first word.

GameFly had posted in their product description of the 360 version of FF XIII that it would be three discs, but at that point, there had been no word from Square Enix, leading many to wonder if GameFly was just speculating.

Shortly thereafter, Square Enix confirmed to Kotaku that indeed, the GameFly description was accurate.

FYI, the PlayStation 3 version will ship on a single Blu-Ray disc. Is the three disc situation a deal breaker for 360 gamers? Or will it rekindle memories of the PS One era Final Fantasy games when disc swapping was a routine and accepted practice?
