Miyamoto Gets a Lifetime Achievement Award

The creator of countless classic games, including the Mario, Zelda and Donkey Kong franchises, and the person regularly claimed to be the world’s greatest developer, Shigeru Miyamoto received the ‘Lifetime Achievement’ award recently in Japan for his works in the video game industry. Nintendo as a company also received the ‘Distinguished Service’ award for branching out to casual gamers with the Nintendo Wii and DS.

It’s no surprise that Miyamoto should receive this award. The Nintendo super-star has been the driving force behind some of the most critically acclaimed games of all time, most recently New Super Mario Bros. Wii. His first few games, initially Donkey Kong and Super Mario Bros., defined gaming and made it what it is today.

Do Nintendo and Shigeru Miyamoto deserve these awards? Tell your views and comment below.

Well, you could call me the young one and the foreign one, being still a teenager and from the UK. I report primarily news that hardcore RPG and Nintendo fans find interesting. If you need info on underground RPGs and classic freeware games, I'm your man.
