![[UPDATE] Modern Warfare 2 PS3 Multiplayer Totally Unplayable](http://www.justpushstart.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/mw2-3.jpg)
After the second update arrived last night that fixed the trophy glitch, another huge complaint arises. Since multiplayer is a big factor in Modern Warfare 2, downloading the new update won’t get you access to the matchmaking allowing you not to play online. This is indeed annoying to the fans that bought this game just to play the multiplayer. Several PS3 owners including myself are utterly disappointed with this and we want Infinity Ward to fix this problem.
The game was rushed because there are a lot of things that don’t work. When is IW going to fix this? We don’t know but hopefully soon!
Upon logging into the multiplayer matchmaking screen, you will be greeted by the Online Status that will stay on your screen until you get tired of seeing it:
Fetching Playlist…
Updating Ranks and Unlocks…
Connecting to Matchmaking Sever Complete.
Hopefully the downtime is a sign that a new patch is on the way that fixes ALL OF THE ERRORS.
[UPDATE] >Randolph d’Amore of Activision stated that the there was a server outage and he doesn’t know when will the server will be back. There is no ETA but currently, they are adding more PS3 servers to meet the MP demand.
[UPDATE] The server is up. It might take some time for you to connect but it’s getting there.
[Final UPDATE] fourzerotwo says: “PS3 Status update of the day: PSN Multiplayer should be running at full capacity. We expect smooth skies ahead.” “Full capacity means anyone who wants to join should be able to. No limit.” via twitter.
Invite issues will be addressed by the patch coming by end of the week.

This sounds a lot like the error in CoD4. Try actually powering-down your router for about 30 seconds, then bringing it back up. IW likes to change things sometimes, and your router has info cached that has to be purged.

I got the same problem…occassionally it would update and then get me in a room with like 12 people and then boot me out with message saying visit infinityward.com/hostmigration to read more…well that site doesn’t work…irritated cause this is my first day off

Same thing happening on my end… I woke up this morning, fired up MW2 and realized there was a patch… downloaded it, restarted… fired up MW2 again, tried to get into multiplayer and was met with this BS. 90% of the reason I bought MW2 was for multiplayer, so this is a huge disappointment… hopefully this gets resolved ASAP.

A game of this hype should not have so many internal issues.
Of course, all new games come with glitches and such, but things like trophy problems, invite problems, CONNECTION PROBLEMS; all of that shit should have been discovered and dealt with long before the game was released.
IW needs to get their shit together.

I had played this for almost 16 hours before i did the update to 1.02 and found i could no longer play online,getting the same screen as mentioned by angel hope this gets fixed soon as possible cos im am getting p*****d off with the situation when will companies learn that with out customers there would not be any company and so they should at least playtest properly before bring out a new update that does more damage than good.also does anyone of the above have an original 60gb ps3

yeah i think its pretty messed up… why release an update that breaks multiplayer? what is the dev team doing before they put out updates to people; especially if they preodered it… but they got their money so they are happy… enjoy single player or get an xbox

Tyler I agree sounds like a pretty crappy QA team that tested it before they put out a patch… lets put out an update…. oh yeah we forgot to test multiplayer on PS3 doesn’t work… IW disappointed… maybe I should get on cod WaW. Put out a better quality game at launch next time IW the game shouldn’t be that buggy… all this stuff should have been cleared with a game with this much hype.

Infinity Ward’s MW2 PS3 forum is completely swamped. Hopefully if we get enough people to post over there and make enough noise, the problem will get fixed quicker, or at least addressed by an IW representative or something.

This is really p***ing me off. I had a day off school today and figured I’d play MW2 all day, as I had it pre-ordered and waited in line yesterday. I played last night fine. Now, it don’t work. I’m surprised it’s not fixed by now. Very disappointed in IW.

People bring up the price of xbox live at $50 a year as being a problem, but its only the price of one extra game a year, $4 a month. Biggest game of the year and PSN is bugging out… ouch. glad i bought mw2 on my 360 instead of on my ps3.

I am completely irritated with the Multiplayer being completely fubar!!! I bought the game at midnight on the release date, went home popped it in and as a huge multiplayer fan with a kick ass clan I was looking forward to meeting up with my COD WAW clan and running game on people.. Well first thing I notice is the retarded ass way of adding a friend. It completely backs you out of the game to your ps3 friends list and you have to send them a message as your add??!!! Come on IW, you gotta be kidding that you couldn’t have found a way to integrate this in the game like all of the previous ones??? Stupid!!! And then I see all of my clan online and started to invite them to my lobby and nobody shows up?? So on the release date we cant even add our friends to the multiplayer??? Stupid!! Then I have the day off work and look forward to multiplayer today all day and I start the game and it updates a 15MB update, very quick and I go to multiplayer and try to get in a game and multiplayer is completely down!!! Are you serious, Again Stupid!!! Infinity Ward…Fix this problem!!! Most people play Call of Duty for the multiplayer… you sold us less than half a product and I feel ripped off!! I will say that the 1 hour I spent playing the multiplayer I was pleased with the gameplay, amount of things you can customize, the graphics and maps are amazing so I have to give credit on that, but now I can’t even play??? when are we going to get an update>> I tried to log on to infinity wards website and that seems to be down too…wow…someone grabbed the money and skipped town on us…

Settle down guys…I know it sucks, but just be patient. Go for a run or something….put down the chips and coke. You will be able to play…just a little waiting is all you need to do. The single player isn’t that boring.

It wasn’t the update. It was the server overloading. IT seems that the servers can’t handle that much so they are now getting more servers to meet the demand

I love how the server OVERLOADS for half a day and everyone flips out like it’s the end of the world. People it’s a new game. Thousands of people bought it. It’s the hugest online game this year. This was bound to happen on day 2. Those who capped on IW chill out. At least they pay attention to their customers unlike some other developers.

they realy do need to get there priorities right if they want to sell a desent game.

I don’t think people should be SO mad at IW. These sorts of things happen and it’s not as easy as you might think to fix them before launch. There’s just certain factors that they just can’t account for until it’s released to the public. Plus they’re working round the clock releasing patches and updates to everyone in regards to fixing the problems.

Its Novemeber 15th and i cant access the best part of call of duty. My buddy has had no problem comnnecting and has played since we picked it up. I on the other hand am stuck at the onlin e status bar and have been that way for 3 days. Dont realease a game especially as big as call of duty without having the neccessary requirments so we can be allowed to play. Its ridiculous i’ve bought a 60 dollar game to access half of it.

uhh guys… i returned my modern warfare 2 two days ago, and i bought another copy of it and it works fine now… i think some discs were faulty… try return or exchange ur mw2 unit for another one… just think of it.. they sold over millions of copies in the first week of its realease, so chances are that there are bound to be a few faulty discs.. good luck

Yo guys. If you still have problems with connecting to mw2 servers (Fetching playlist, updating rank etc.) don’t blame your ps3 or IW. you have to reconfigure your internet connection, router.i had this same problem but than my neighbour provided me his internet connection and i works fine. try opening ports, unlocking NAT. good luck
